Turabi

Turabi is more than a ceramic studio — it’s a practice of cultural preservation. Each handmade piece carries the stories, forms, and traditions of Palestinian heritage, keeping them alive through craft and care.

Turabi, which means 'my soil' or 'my earth' in Arabic, is a ceramic studio in Amsterdam, founded by Jerusalem born Inas Halabi. One of the main inspirations behind Turabi is Palestinian embroidery, known as Tatreez, where various patterns are hand-carved into the clay, creating pieces that are both decorative and functional. These designs carry the symbols and stories of Palestine, preserving our rich heritage. Turabi also features ceramic designs inspired by the natural tones of Mother Earth and lace-adorned motifs inspired by the blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea. At Turabi, every ceramic piece is a labor of love, crafted using traditional pottery techniques. From bowls to plates, mugs, and serving platters, our handmade designs come in a variety of colors and sizes. Turabi also offers monthly ceramic workshops that are suitable for all levels, from painting mugs to handbuilding plant pots and plates. These workshops offer a place to relax, find inspiration, learn new skills and unleash your creativity.
